Who are you?
Hello, my name's Michael. I'm a breathwork instructor, but also I'm a wellness coach. I'm also a father of three brother to my older sister and an all around good guy.
What is your background?
So I've been within the wellness space for coming to 11 years now. I started off as a personal trainer, but then I realised that individuals were looking for more of a holistic approach when it comes to their health and wellness. So then I trained to become a meditation instructor, a city chairman, massage therapist, a nutritionist, and also a physiological stress consultant. So now I encompass all of those things together to deliver what I'd like to call a holistic package in terms of managing someone's overall life and stress. And breathwork is one of the fundamental things that I use within my consulting.
Can you share your lived experience of how stress showed up in your life?
So my early experience of knowing what stress was was when I was a teenager and I was invited to a school dance and I felt a feeling within me and I was looking around to see whether there were others. There were feeling similar feelings, but everyone externally had very calm or controlled demeanors. And I started to wonder, why do I feel like this? And others that are going through exactly the same thing as me feel very different. And going along my journey of young teenager to adulthood, I experienced something called stress induced vomiting, where when I was in stressful situations, my body would respond in a way where I would actually physically be sick. So that was another thing where I was like, why is this happening to me? And other people can go for exact same situation and be absolutely fine. So that kind of shaped my early years in terms of what I would expose myself to, how comfortable I was in certain situations, feeling that that response could happen again. And it shaped my confidence levels as a young child. And I decided to take control of the situation by knowing what's happening with my body so I can try to understand and affect it.
