Who are you?
So my name's Jeremy Lipkowitz. I am a meditation teacher, a leadership coach, and a porn addiction recovery expert. I am also a rock climber, a yogi. I like to read books. I live in Thailand. I love to travel and explore. So that's a little bit of who I am.
Can you describe the moment you realised that your porn use was becoming more than just a habit?
So I realised that my porn use was becoming more than just a habit, probably in college and university. I started noticing how I was using it on a regular basis, on a daily basis, and the way that I was starting to really feel ashamed of that use and hiding it from my roommates, from my friends. It was something that started to feel more compulsive rather than something that actually brought me joy. That's when I started to notice that it was becoming more than just some innocent habit.
How did your porn consumption change over time?
So even after I was able to break free from porn addiction, it still was so shameful for me. I was so ashamed of the fact that I used to watch porn and had a porn addiction, that it took me six years before I could talk about it to a single person. And this was even after I was able to break free from it. So the amount of shame that I felt around this topic was just so big. It prevented me from talking about it to friends or therapists or family members. It was really something that was hard for me to open up about.
