Where can I go to get debt advice?
You don't need to worry about dealing with debt alone. There are many organisations out there that offer free independent debt advice. You can go on the Money Helper website and they can kind of give you a debt advice locator so you can try and see where you can get some advice from. And organisations such as Pay Plan, they offer free independent debt advice as well. They will help have a look and see how you can manage your money the best way. They'll have a look at what sort of debt solutions are available for you, and everything that you share with them is always kept in confidence.
Will my employer be told I’m in debt?
A debt advisor will never tell your employer that you're seeking debt advice. However, there are certain debt solutions that could impact your employment. Your case officer or your debt advisor, sorry, would go through all of those with you and go through the options and making you aware on what solutions going to impact what employment and what role you are in. But for example, bankruptcy is a debt solution that could impact people in certain roles, but your case officer would go through that with you so you are aware of what the consequences are, and at the end of the day, it's your decision on what you decide to go ahead with.
