Who are you?

Hi, my name is Rebecca. I'm 40 years old. I currently live in Turkey, but I'm from the uk and my hobbies include yoga movies and seeing my friends.

When did you first realise you have BDD?

So when did I first realise I was struggling with BDD? I think I've always been aware of problems around my shape and size, which I've had for a very young age, but it kind of manifested itself in an eating disorder and addiction for me. So the body dysmorphia almost slipped through. When I first had a diagnosis, I was 24, and that's obviously when I realised I had it. But I didn't talk to many people about it. I still didn't understand it myself, and I was also embarrassed to go and tell people that I had this problem with how I perceive I look.

What's the worst thing someone could say?

So the worst thing you can say to someone with BDD is, but you look fine. There's nothing wrong with you. You're beautiful. Stop being so vain. I can't see what the problem is because all that just makes you feel unheard, and then you feel like you just can't speak about it because people perceive you as vain.
