Who are you?

Hey, I'm JAAQ Norcross, so I'm food, football and family obsessed. I grew up near Cambridge, but I'm now based in East London. And after a stint working in public health, I've been working in the mental health tech space, and I'm honoured to be the first JAAQ at JAAQ. So I'm partly responsible for the continued evolution and success of the JAAQ At Work product. So continuing to onboard amazing partners like Adidas, NatWest, and Workday. But I've also got a crazy green thumb, so I'm just as likely to be transplanting corts over the weekend as I am playing football or watching football with my pals. And I probably shouldn't say this here, but I'm also a diehard man United fan. We can't all be perfect.

What is your role at JAAQ?

So at JAAQ, I'm an account executive, which means that I'm responsible for guiding organisations through an evaluation and decision-making process for the JAAQ at Work service. So I'm here to educate and consult and fit interventions and services like JAAQ At Work. It really takes a true partnership, and so my role is about leveraging all of our in-House expertise to make sure that that partnership's set up for success. So at JAAQ, we're all about measurable impact, and we want to make sure that we're working together to the same targets for your people, for your managers, and for the business.

What is your background?

So my background's predominantly been in health and public health. So from studying biological sciences at university, I then went to work at a company called Illumina. So it's a California genomics company, and they've been at the forefront of numerous scientific breakthroughs. And while I was there, being immersed in a hub of innovation and excellent straight out of university was a really formative experience. And it pushed me towards further education. So I went and studied for a master's in public health at UCL, and then went straight into a role at the Department of Health and Social Care. So I worked in the tobacco, alcohol and gambling control policy team. And this was an eye-opening experience, but the swaying of political influence was almost disheartening, and it really left me craving that faster paced impact work of industry. And so I went to a new role at Unmined, I joined the commercial team, and I was able to learn from an organisation who were at the forefront of this technology, one of the very earliest movers in workplace mental health support. And it kind of paved the way for the thousands of platforms and apps that have come since. And look, this journey has got me kind of laser focused on two different mantras, which I'll always bring up. And the first is how can we be preventative in our approach? So I worked in tobacco and alcohol control policy. I know it's not always possible, but there's a huge public health impact to be had from earlier interventions. And then secondly, the power of the workplace. So the work we do, who we do it for, and where we do it as a huge impact on our lives. And at JAAQ, I'm incredibly fortunate to be able to action both of these on a daily basis. So driving preventative health interventions, organisations that are really dedicated to making a change.
