Can you tell me about yourself?
So my name is Tate. I'm a 23-year-old legal secretary, trans activist, and speaker. I've been transitioning for three and a half years now. I became an activist at the beginning of my transition when I came out in my organisation, and I've been able to shape a speaking career for myself ever since.
What does it mean to be transgender?
It means when your body and your brain aren't in line with one another. So it means when you don't identify with the sex that you were assigned at birth. So your gender identity differs.
Why are you a trans activist?
I feel very strongly about male visibility, and I don't feel like there's enough of it, and I'm really saddened by the stereotypes that surround trans people and the common myths, and I feel like it's my duty to debunk them and give a platform and a voice to the community that doesn't usually have it.
