Have you ever had therapy?

I've had numerous types of therapy ranging from CBT, compassion focused therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, different talking therapies and mindfulness, and they've ranged from group sessions to individual sessions. So overall, I've tried lots of different types of therapy.

What is it like having depression?

Depression is one of the hardest things to have to live with. It's taken me to wanting to end my life and just wanting to get away from that constant negative chatter and just feeling worthless and as though there's no real place for you on this earth really.

When did you first start feeling depressed?

I've suffered with depression now for over 20 years, and a certain degree of sadness is normal, but when it gets to the point where you want to take your life, that's happened several times. My diagnosis is recurrent major depressive disorder, so it's recognised that it will come back time and time again, and it has come back time and time again, and sometimes more severely than other times. But I think for a long time I didn't realise that it wasn't normal.
